I chuckled very lightly remembering those moments. My eyes were getting red due to frustration that clouded my mind. It has been 4 hours since we are outside the operation theatre and no news of him. We just watched the nurse rushing in and out of the cabin, ignoring all our calls.

"Erica, child go get some fresh air. We are here." My mom said.
It's when I noticed that I wasn't the only one getting affected. My best friend had tears flowing down her cheeks as she sobbed silently.
I went up to her and caressed her back trying to sooth her down.
She looked up at me and hugged my waist tightly, bursting out more. My hands moved in circular motion behind her head.
"Erica, mummy is right. Let's go for a walk hmm?"
I said and helped her get up from her shoulders. She walked beside me silently in the hallway. I took a deep breath and turned towards her.
"Don't worry, he will be fine. Krishna would never let anything bad happen to him."
I assured her, she slightly nodded and clutched the cross pendant that adorned her neck.
We came out of the main building to walk around a bit. Suddenly there were blinding lights all around us, the flashes from cameras forced us to cover our eyes with our hands. A lot of reporters came sprinting towards us.
'How is Aadvik?'
'What have doctors said?'
'We have heard that it was a terrible accident, would he be able to make it through?'
'Is he Alive?'
That was the last straw they could have pulled. I took the microphone from one of them and smashed it on the ground.
Rest of them fell silent and Erica dragged me inside by my arms.
"What was that?" She questioned.
"Didn't you hear what they were saying? Lucky for them, I didn't blast her head off. "
Frustration and anger got the better of me.
We both went inside again and waited for a bit. Mom kept crying and dad looked lost.
Though they weren't with us all the time but they are still our parents, they looked devastated. I moved near my dad and kept a hand on his shoulder. He looked back at me and sniffed. I felt so weak at this point, watching my all independent parents being so wrecked.
My dad hugged me crying on my shoulders as I patted his back. This was the first time I saw him cry and the third time he hugged me since I remember. The other two being my graduation and my first award ceremony. He pulled back after a few minutes when the doctor came outside.
"Doc, how is Aadvik?"
I was the first one to voice my thoughts.
Doctor sighed and said,
" During the car crash the window glass exploded and the sharp edges of glass had entered deep inside his right ear causing the eardrum to tear. Also there are several comminuted fractures along with spinal cord injury.
Saving his life is getting impossible, a lot of blood has been lost. Hemoglobin is only 4 units and there are 8% platelets.
Even if we save him we are not sure if he would be able to walk or hear ever again. "
He walked towards the blood bank .
I started breathing heavily, everything felt so heavy. I stumbled till I reached the door of the ICU and looked at the barely visible figure that laid down surrounded by doctors and nurses.
My shaking hands reach up to my heart and I start praying to Krishna.
Please, please, make him alright!
You can't let anything happen to him. Nothing can happen to him. He has to be fine. He's your devotee, please make him alright Krishna , I beg you.
Author's pov
She kept repeating these words in her mind trying to control her wobbly legs.
15 minutes passed, and suddenly there was havoc inside the operation theatre. Machines beeped continuously as Niyati's palms become sweaty. Her father joined her from behind and looked through the window. He saw the condition his daughter was in.
Completely shaking and breathing heavily. He rubbed her back, though his state wasn't any better.
Aadvik was being provided shock treatment but his heart beat rate was depleting.
'Aadvik you can't leave me, Erica' repeated in her mind. While Niyati closed her eyes praying to Krishna. She was lost in her prayers. Nothing else other than Aadvik mattered to her now.
The machines stopped as the Doctor came out. Everyone turned their attention towards him.
"A-Aadvik… ?"
Vijay abruptly asked.
The doctor sighed and shaked his head negatively.
" We couldn't save him." He said.
Erica gave up on her knees and fell down on the ground sobbing hard, while a loud cry escaped Shraddha's throat. Vijay seemed to be stunned and devastated by the news.
Niyati, on the other hand, couldn't believe this.
"No.."
A mere whisper managed to come out. She stumbled back and sat on the seats.
Aadvik was dead, this was the hardest pill to swallow for her. Her brother, her guardian, has left her alone. Just a few days ago he promised that he will be attending her awards function.
How could he break his promise? He can't be gone. No, how can Krishna let that happen to him? How can he take the only family of Niyati away from her?
She couldn't comprehend anything at that point of time. Watching her in this state from afar her mom came towards her. She knew how much Aadvik meant for Niyati and how he was the only one she had trusted all her life. Losing the one with whom you have spent all your life ought to hurt a lot. She sat beside her and patted her shoulders trying to subdue her own cries.
"He's such a betrayer Mummy." Niyati complained gazing at the wall but she herself knew she won't get justice now.
"Forgive him Niti, maybe it was his time." Her mother gulped a sob.
" Mam, you can take the dead body after completing this form. "
A nurse interrupted their mourning.
Niyati gathered the courage to take that death certificate from her hand and went to the counter to fill it. She still didn't want to believe this but had to. Filling up the form and signing it, she took her phone out and informed Yashi about the unfortunate news and asked her to start the preparation for his last rites.
She consoled Erica as she kept sobbing holding Aadvik's lifeless body and helped her get up. Not even once she looked at his face or we can say she didn't have the courage to.
She knew if she got a sight of him she would end up crying so hard that it would be impossible to calm her down for anyone. And at this point of time her family needed her. His body was then transferred into an ambulance and the media was made aware about his death by the doctors.
Niyati and Erica again sat in the same car and all of them drove back to Delhi.
The car ride was silent until Erica broke the silence,
"Are you alright?" She asked in a hoarse voice. Niyati shook her head and looked at the ambulance that kept driving ahead of them.
"I'll miss him. " She said in a heavy voice that made tears brim at the bridge of Erica's eyes.
" We will. " She said, placing a hand on her left shoulder.
" I just hope he finds peace." She said subduing her sob that that threatened to come out of her throat.

But, there's always first time to things and now when I was editing this and posting it here, it really made me cry.
Now, I know that how excruciating it is to loose someone.
Shall, let's not make it anymore gloomy.
